Mr Heappey said people have voted for a 'balanced Parliament' to take Britain out of EU.
James Heappey has pledged his backing for Theresa May after being re-elected as Conservative MP for Wells with an increased majority.
Tessa Munt from the Liberal Democrats, who had held the seat until 2015, had hoped to regain her place in Parliament.
But an increase in votes for the Labour party and the absence of a UKIP candidate contributed to a result which left Mr Heappey with more than 50 per cent of the vote.
Mr Heappey said he would support the Prime Minister despite what – with hindsight – looks like an unwise decision to call an early general election.
The Conservatives had a small majority before yesterday’s (June 8) vote but there is now a hung parliament.
