James Heappey MP met with the new Chief Executive of the Integrated Care Board (ICB) Jonathan Higman to discuss healthcare in Somerset.
Mr Heappey was keen to raise the plans to cut waiting lists, solve the Somerset NHS dentistry crisis, and the workforce here in the South West.
Over the past few months, dentistry has been high on the agenda with many frustrated constituents unable to get an NHS appointment.
In April this year, it will be the ICB's responsibility to commission dentistry and Mr Heappey pressed Mr Higman on what this would mean for patients. While it will not be solved overnight, this step should be one in the right direction.
However, Mr Heappey has also requested a ministerial level meeting to try and establish the plan for Somerset as a whole going forward.
He said: "I was pleased to meet the new leadership of the ICB and raise some of the most common things I am seeing in my mailbag. I am acutely aware of the distress being caused to constituents, particularly with regards to getting a dentist appointment.
"I am committed to getting this sorted as quickly as possible. Mr Higman is aware of my strength of feeling and I felt he understood how the organisation needs to support those in the Wells constituency.
"We will meet regularly and I will keep constituents as up-to-date as I can over the coming weeks and months."
