Wells MP James Heappey welcomed newly-elected Police and Crime Commissioner Mark Shelford to the city, to discuss policing priorities in the constituency.
Issues discussed included illegal encampments across Glastonbury and Burnham-on-Sea in particular, as well as antisocial behaviour and driving in Cheddar.
Both Mr Heappey and Mr Shelford agreed that enforcement action against illegal encampments was crucial, and that resources should be directed to the Sedgemoor village to tackle dangerous driving and to avoid criminal behaviour.
The MP said: "It was important that the Police and Crime Commissioner and I met so quickly, so he was aware of the priorities I felt he should pass on to Avon and Somerset Police. I have also been clear with the police on this.
"I very much look forward to working with Mark to serve our constituents in the best possible way."
