Highbridge MP met the leadership of King Alfred School in Highbridge to discuss the progress it has made since being taken over by the Priory Learning Trust.
Interim CEO Nathan Jenkins and Headteacher Dan Milford met with Mr Heappey to discuss plans to extend the Sixth Form and the expectations for exam results and future inspections.
Mr Heappey said after looking around the Sixth Form: "The turnaround in the offering at the King Alfred School is nothing short of extraordinary, thanks to the leadership and commitment of the staff.
"The Sixth Form was close to being taken away just five years ago, and now there is the need for more space, with places at top universities almost guaranteed.
"I am so pleased for the children and staff that this brilliant school is fulfilling its potential."
