The Kings of Wessex Academy was paid a visit by Cheddar MP James Heappey, to celebrate the appointment of the new year 12 senior student team.
The students have been chosen to take on a number of roles and Mr Heappey and headteacher Gavin Ball congratulated them during an inauguration at the school.
Mr Heappey spoke to some of the students about their new roles and their potential journey to university or into the world of work.
Headteacher Gavin Ball said: “It was good to speak with James to tell him about our work here at Kings and for the Wessex Learning Trust and to discuss some of the educational issues of the day.”
“Mr Heappey also spent time with the new senior student team at their special inauguration event.”
Mr Heappey added: “It was excellent to get an update from the Kings of Wessex and the trust. I am pleased with the progress being made by Gavin and his staff.
“I enjoyed meeting the senior student team and am pleased so many wanted to take on the leadership roles for their last two years at school, and it will no doubt help prepare them for the next steps in their career.”
