Wells MP James Heappey hosted an assembly on democracy at St Vigor and St John Church School in Chilcompton.
The children took part in an activity where they created their own law, and quizzed Mr Heappey on his role as an MP. He also had a catch up with Headteacher Mr Chorley about the recovery from the pandemic and plans for the future of the school.
Mr Heappey said: "I always enjoy visiting schools, and it was great to be in Chilcompton to meet the leadership, and engage with the children who asked insightful - and at times - tough questions.
"The school have their own democratically chosen leadership and it is great to see them all know what democracy means and how important it is. I was very impressed with their knowledge."
