This week has been another where Ukranian forces have fought admirably against Russian troops. It has been almost a month since the invasion, and I had the pleasure of meeting a number of Ukranian MPs last week who came over to London to discuss British support, and plans going forward.
I know it was a difficult decision for them to leave their country for a few days, but it really was worthwhile and it was awe-inspiring to see just how united the country is. In the MOD, we are continuing to work day and night to support them with weapons, as well as the financial aid and sanctioning which is key to defeating Putin.
It is also important to note that they are extremely thankful to the British people for their support and continued to emphasise the best way to continue to do this is through monetary donations. If you are able to give cash of any amount, the best way to do this is through the Ukranian Government (https://war.ukraine.ua/donate/) or the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund (www.globalgiving.org/projects/ukraine-crisis-relief-fund).
Goods being sent are well intentioned but can inadvertently disrupt the fragile supply chain from receiving things like medical supplies. Somerset is once again stepping up in a time of crisis, from volunteers to raising cash as a council or local community groups, I am immensely proud to represent this wonderful county.
