I am writing this week’s column just after the bank holiday weekend, and with the weather as nice as it was, I was pleased to see Somerset benefitting from its tourism industry being back up and running.
The pictures of a packed Burnham-on-Sea beach, as well as places like Glastonbury and Wells enjoying a good trade is what the holidays are all about, and a signal that Somerset is getting back to where it was before the pandemic.
I recently met with the CEO of Visit Somerset, and we are going to continue to work closely together to support the tourism industry in this great county. From Wookey Hole Caves to Cheddar Gorge, to Wells Cathedral and the holiday park industry in Brean, we have so much to be proud of and I want to support the businesses in the constituency as much as possible.
There will also be celebrations in Somerset for St George’s Day over the weekend, as we approach the end of the Easter school holidays, which will be great to see. I hope you all managed to get some quality family time and had an enjoyable Easter.
