As I write this, organisations, businesses, and communities across the county are marking and celebrating Somerset Day. Every May, it is a chance to shout about all the wonderful things about Somerset and look back on the heritage of this great county.
One of the best things about representing the area I do is the variety of towns, villages, and of course cities in the Wells constituency.
From Brean, Berrow and Burnham-on-Sea beaches, to the stunning Wells cathedral, I have the pleasure of also representing Wookey Hole, Cheddar, Shepton Mallet and the wonderfully diverse Glastonbury. Plus, villages in the Mendips which provide fantastic walks and views and a host of tourism for visitors.
There are unique challenges to every place, and the breadth of work which I undertake as the Member of Parliament is vast, but the one thing that remains constant is that we all feel very grateful to live and work in such a glorious place like Somerset.
The biggest change during the pandemic was being unable to visit places across the Wells constituency and host important meetings in person and not on Teams! I could not be happier that those days are over, and this week marked the seventh year I have been the Member of Parliament for this fantastic area and there is still so much we want to achieve together. So, I hope you all marked Somerset Day in your own way, and I look forward to another constituency day on Friday where we can focus on the priorities for the area.
