I was very pleased to be able to confirm this week that Glastonbury has received half a million pounds of Government funding for several excellent projects.
This money has been granted to the town for refurbishment plans – including the Red Brick building and the town centre, as well as refurbishments of St Edmunds Hall and other projects.
Glastonbury is a town full of character and potential. Driving plans like the one for the iconic Redbrick Building paves the way for even more ambitious projects going forward. This cash is in addition to the Government’s Towns Fund pot – which is worth up to £25million. This grant is a vote of confidence from the Government and a key manifesto pledge and I am very excited about what the future holds for Glastonbury.
This is a huge opportunity - not only to drive economic growth - but to improve the prospects for people in the town (and the surrounding areas of the county) who have been hit so hard by the coronavirus pandemic.
While there is still a long way to go, this support for our local area is the beginning of our road to recovery and a chance for us to showcase how fantastically diverse and welcoming Glastonbury is, with the support of those in Westminster.
