A POPULAR Burnham-on-Sea pub and hotel has reopened following a £294,000 renovation project in partnership with pub operator Punch. The Victoria Hotel on Victoria Street opened its doors on February 18 after an extensive refurbishment to the bar and six letting rooms.
Shaun McCann, publican at the Victoria Hotel said: "The Victoria has been a welcoming local pub for many years and Carla and I are determined to ensure it stays that way.
"It has successful darts and skittles teams, which I’m really looking forward to getting involved with.
"I’d also like to establish new teams, such as pool and football, as well as continue our support for the local rugby team.
"We are introducing lots of new things for our customers to do and to eat and drink but everyone can rest assured that we will be keeping the warm welcome that has made The Victoria such a popular pub and hotel.
"There is a wide choice of wines, beers and spirits.
"Craft and cask ale fans can choose from a range of brews, including carefully selected guest ales.
"Homemade food is available seven days a week and special themed evenings, such as steak nights, will be on offer throughout the week.
"There is also a newly installed pizza oven, serving meals to eat in or take away."
Shaun and Carla McCann, publicans of the Victoria Hotel moved to Burnham from Burton-on-Trent in Staffordshire to run the popular pub. The pub has been completely transformed after its renovation and now has a new bar, six letting rooms and four new big screen television's to broadcast major matches and sporting fixtures.
James Heappey, MP for Burnham-on-Sea attended the opening and welcomed the new publicans to the town.
"It's great to see almost £300,000 of investment coming into this hotel and this couple's expertise coming into the town.
"The hotel will help to drive footfall at this end of town and entice more people into town from the holiday parks.”
Andy Killeen, openings manager for Punch said: “The Victoria has been completely redecorated throughout but we have been careful not to lose the feel and character of the building.
"Shaun and Carla are great publicans and I am really looking forward to working with them and their team as they welcome customers old and new.
