Wells MP James Heappey has announced the three winners of his annual Christmas Card Competition – and presented them with certificates to mark their achievement.
The competition attracted hundreds of entries and the top three designs featured on Mr Heappey’s final card, which has been sent to thousands of members of the Government, fellow parliamentarians, journalists, community leaders, local businesses and residents.
Nine-year-old Imogen Bright saw her design feature on the front of the card and was presented her prize and certificate at assembly at Brookside Academy in Street.
Entries from 10-year-old Jasmine Cook, who attends St Paul’s Junior School in Shepton Mallet and eight-year-old Jack Comerford, who attends Lympsham Church of England Academy, were chosen as highly commended and feature on the back.
All the schoolchildren who entered the competition received a certificate and Imogen will also travel to London with tickets donated by Great Western Railway to tour Parliament alongside Mr Heappey.
Mr Heappey said: “I would like to thank all the children who entered the competition this and congratulate Imogen, Jasmine and Jack for their winning entries. There were so many wonderful designs, so it was great to judge them and it was a really tough decision.
“I look forward to welcome Imogen and her family to Parliament in the New Year.”
