Burnham-on-Sea MP James Heappey paid a visit to mental health charity Somerset House which coincided with Mental Health Awareness Week.
This comes a week after Mr Heappey visited neighbouring charity In Charley’s Memory as part of his ongoing work to ensure there is a strong mental health provision in Somerset.
Mr Heappey is working both in Westminster and in Somerset to establish what a good provision looks like in the communities of the Wells constituency.
He said: “Somewhere House is an amazing charity and works really hard for people of all ages who are suffering with mental health issues on all scales.
“There has been a lot of discussion in Parliament over the past week as a result of Mental Health Awareness Week and it is important everyone realises it is just as easy to break your head, as it is your arm or your leg.
“Charities like Somewhere House and In Charley’s Memory show just how important the third sector is to ensure there is a full network of services available.
“I was really pleased to meet them both and get their views on what good looks like for mental health services in Somerset. I look forward to working with them in the future and making sure Somerset is doing all it can to help people struggling with their mental health.”
