I wanted to take this opportunity to speak about the importance of local Government. We have seen throughout this testing year just how important Parish, Town, District and County Councils are.
Not only have they been instrumental in bringing communities together, they have also been influential in the collaborative approach to the vaccine rollout. Councils, PCNs, the NHS and Government have worked extremely hard to get the logistics right and we are seeing the benefits.
Today is polling day for so many across the country and here in Somerset and I do just want to thank all the candidates for running for office. I know it is not easy – let alone having to campaign throughout this pandemic, with restrictions only recently easing.
I very much enjoy working closely with councillors to ensure the Wells constituency is served in the best way possible and I look forward to working with some new additions over the next few years.
Our system of Government adds to this collaborative approach and I wish everyone luck as votes are counted from today. As for constituents, this is a great opportunity to have your say on how local services are run so please do use your vote!
