As I write this, it marks one year since the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine was given to Margaret Keenan – the first person to receive it outside a trial here in the UK.
It shows just how far we have come in delivering immunity to the vulnerable in society, and the wider population. With research still ongoing regarding the omicron variant, it is becoming increasingly likely that booster jabs will become more and more regular – as is the case with the flu vaccination programme.
Today is also the day that over 40s will be eligible for the vaccine, and while I know the booking system is stretched, there will be plenty of time to ensure all adults are offered the vaccine by the end of January.
As I have said before, do keep trying and I will be in constant discussions with the CCG and County Council over any issues.
With new rules also coming in regarding testing when travelling, it is important we keep vigilant in slowing down the spread in these challenging winter months.
